Charlotte Trevella was born in 1992 and is a pupil at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School. She began writing poetry at age seven and had her first poem published in the NZ Listener when she was ten. Charlotte has been a winner in the Young Australasian Writers’ Awards for three consecutive years and won the NZ Poetry Society under-18 competition in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
In 2008 she was selected as one of the top fifteen youth poets in the world, in the Foyle Young Poet of the Year competition run by the British Poetry Society. In August 2009 she won first prize in the New Zealand Post National Schools Poetry Awards, judged by Jenny Bornholdt.
As well as writing, Charlotte enjoys cross-country running, tramping and drama. She lives in North Canterbury and plans to study medicine at university.
