Description

The Happiness of Rain is the third collection of poems from Jan Hutchison, following on from The Long Sleep is Over and Days Among Trees. This book features works such as The coming of the Matariki, which won first place in the Bravado International Poetry Competition in 2006, and Early in the story: Katherine Mansfield, drawing on Mansfield’s personal letters.

About the author

Jan Hutchison lives in Christchurch with her husband Hamish. Born in Petone, she has worked in the Justice Department and as a librarian in Wellington, Dunedin and Nelson. In 2011 Jan won first prize in the Takahe International Poetry Competition. Her most recent volume of poetry is Kinds of Hunger.
