Julie Leibrich has lived in Raumati for 30 years and loves the beach, the sea and the local community. Born in Salford, Lancashire, in 1947, Julie studied medieval English at Edinburgh University and later did a PhD in psychology at Victoria University, Wellington. She lived in Bermuda, then in Yellowknife in the far north of Canada, before settling here in 1974. After working as a research psychologist for many years, she was appointed one of New Zealand’s first Mental Health Commissioners.
This is Julie’s twelfth book, and fifth collection of poetry. Her writing has won many awards and has been widely published and anthologised. Her favourite pastimes are contemplation, reading, playing the piano, and dancing ballroom and tango. She lives with a magical cat called Merlin.
