Description
Everything in this collection was written to be read aloud. Bronwyn’s presented her poetry and creative writing at social events, faith community services, in poets’ pubs and cafes. One summer semester, Bronwyn took a Religious Studies paper and a Poetry Workshop at Victoria University of Wellington. She learned about writing and hermeneutics from religious studies and about faith in the poetry sessions. Some of the poems are from Bronwyn’s years as a single parent with a varied and interesting social life. Others are inspired by her wide circle of friends, her (relatively) recent marriage, and by places she knows and loves.
Liturgy means “the work of the people” and Bronwyn participates in and sometimes leads services at her inclusive/progressive and post-Christian faith communities – including writing and presenting her church’s 2010 Christmas Day service, sermon and all. She’s currently working on a collection of Advent and Christmas liturgies, and writing contemporary hymn lyrics.
